CMTC Services Impact Over 2600 Manufacturing Jobs
TORRANCE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Results from an independent survey of Southern California manufacturers receiving consulting services in 2010 from California Manufacturing Technology Consulting® (CMTC) reported a significant impact on jobs. The survey reported the creation and retention of over 2600 jobs. An added benefit is that manufacturing jobs have a multiplier effect on the economy. Each manufacturing job creates 4 to 7 additional support jobs.
“By acquiring additional quality certifications, we were able to increase our competitiveness and acquire new business”
CMTC provides crucial consulting services with a focus on technical, production and sales growth services to improve the competitiveness and expansion of manufacturers. This allows companies to shift toward innovation by providing “quick to customer” products and high productive practices that will create jobs.
Local companies are linking their improved production capabilities and sales to retaining their current workforce or adding new employees. Omega Precision, a small high-precision machine shop that makes parts for aerospace industry, increased product quality to retain sales. They did not create new jobs, but didn't lose any either. On the other hand, Miles Chemical improved their operations with three new quality certifications, obtained a new contract and immediately hired three new employees. “By acquiring additional quality certifications, we were able to increase our competitiveness and acquire new business,” stated Anthony Miles, President of Miles Chemical.
“The manufacturing sector is important to the U.S. economy and to California. Manufacturers are clearly embracing new production and growth strategies to improve their sales and bottom line which will lead to new jobs,” says David Braunstein, President and CEO of CMTC.
