Sparton Corporation to Highlight Expanded Operations and Capabilities at MD&M West 2011
SCHAUMBURG, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--(Booth #2105) - Sparton Corporation (NYSE: SPA), a supplier of complex and reliable electronic and electro-mechanical products, sub-assemblies and related services to the highly regulated Medical, Defense & Security and Aerospace markets, today announced it will launch its expanded operations and capabilities at the Medical Design & Manufacturing West (MD&M) conference and exhibition February 8-10, 2011, at the Anaheim Convention Center.
“In addition to introducing our comprehensive suite of medical services during the MD&M show, we are unveiling our new brand, look and marketing/communication platform that will better articulate the outstanding levels of expertise, knowledge and service we make available to our medical device clients.”
With the integration of Delphi Medical Systems of Frederick, Colorado complete, Sparton now offers the most comprehensive medical manufacturing and systems integration capabilities of class II and class III complex therapeutic, diagnostic, and surgical devices, as well as providing engineering support in applied technologies such as fluidics, optics, lasers, software, user interfaces, and radio frequency (RF). With this acquisition, the company also broadens its geographic coverage to the West coast to complement its manufacturing and engineering footprints already located in Ohio, Florida and Vietnam.
“The acquisition of Delphi Medical is consistent with our strategy to strengthen our leadership position in the contract manufacturing medical device market, in particular expanding into therapeutic devices to complement the expertise and market leading position we already have in the In Vitro Diagnostics space," said Cary Wood, President & CEO of Sparton Corporation. "This acquisition is a natural extension of our industry-leading internal bio-hazard testing and medical engineering capabilities which provide clients a global manufacturing presence coupled with related design, development, rapid prototyping, manufacturing and delivery services and solutions via our facilities in the U.S. and Asia. Future acquisitions will provide additional services enabling us to provide an even more comprehensive end-to-end medical device solution for our customers.”
Highlights of Sparton’s end-to-end product development solutions and current capabilities include:
- Enhanced Quality Programs Exceeding FDA Requirements
- Precision Fluidic and Robotic Handling Systems
- Thermally Controlled Systems

Sparton also offers a valuable rapid prototyping service called Sparton Express. This unique system offers the means for manufacturing and testing multiple aspects of a client’s existing or newly designed electronic assemblies prior to production release and can also facilitate a cost effective way to manufacture lower volume end-of-life products.
“Sparton is committed to the medical device industry,” added Mr. Wood. “In addition to introducing our comprehensive suite of medical services during the MD&M show, we are unveiling our new brand, look and marketing/communication platform that will better articulate the outstanding levels of expertise, knowledge and service we make available to our medical device clients.”
