Innovative Solutions & Support Announces the Launch of the Flat Panel Display System (FPDS) Program for the Classic B737
EXTON, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Innovative Solutions & Support, Inc. (NASDAQ:ISSC) announced today the Company has scheduled deliveries of the Cockpit/IP™ Flat Panel Display System upgrade of the B737 Classic to begin in October 2011.
“We are pleased to have the opportunity to upgrade the Classic B737 aircraft as well as deliver features and capabilities that enhance operational efficiency, reliability and safety of flight.”
The cockpit upgrade of the B737 replaces aging flight instruments on B737-300/-400/-500 series aircraft. The FPDS uses a 10.4-inch display architecture that provides enhanced situational awareness through greater access to navigational aids. It also offers increased functionality, reduced crew workload, weight reduction and improved dispatch capability. This program complements the FPDS already in service on more than 100 B757/767 aircraft.
Continuing to deliver technology aimed at preparing for NextGen and SESAR requirements IS&S has delivered multiple solutions satisfying Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) needs. “The capability and success of the FPDS on B757/767 aircraft is yielding customer demand for the technology on additional production aircraft,” said Roman Ptakowski, President of IS&S. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to upgrade the Classic B737 aircraft as well as deliver features and capabilities that enhance operational efficiency, reliability and safety of flight.”
The B737 FPDS is available for purchase through IS&S, and offers an open architecture flat panel display system that allows operators to upgrade their aircraft to a glass flight deck while leaving third party avionics installed in the aircraft. This allows the operator to select the best of breed new equipment and minimizes the cost and down time of the upgrade.
