Sarnoff Iris on the Move® (IOM) Iris Recognition System Selected by Schiphol Airport for Biometric ID Testing
PRINCETON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sarnoff Corporation, a leading provider of iris imaging technology, today announced it has been selected by the Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam to test its Iris on the Move® (IOM) Portal iris recognition system.
Sarnoff’s IOM Portal was one of only three systems selected for Schiphol Airport’s advanced biometric identification testing. The airport has begun testing all three systems in a closed testing environment to understand how different biometric identification technologies work in real-world scenarios.
IOM is ideal for Schiphol’s testing program since it’s a proven biometric verification system that operates differently from any other biometric identification solutions on the market today. The technology works by quickly capturing the iris image of a person in motion, combining the advanced security of iris recognition with the speed and convenience of a pass-through system.
“Sarnoff is proud that Schiphol Airport chose the IOM Portal as one of a select group of technologies for biometric verification testing,” said Dr. Don Newsome, President and CEO of Sarnoff Corporation. “Sarnoff’s IOM technology keeps lines moving quickly at airports like Schiphol, while ensuring the security and ease of use that is crucial in high-traffic areas.”
While other iris scanning technologies require users to stop and stare directly into a scanner for a set period of time, IOM technology operates differently. It verifies identities at high speeds by scanning irises from a distance, allowing subjects to move quickly through security checks at speeds of up to 30 people per minute.
The IOM Portal is joined by the Vehicle Drive-Through, and Compact systems for a complete line of fast and reliable iris scanning verification systems tailored to the individual needs of users, including secure government facilities and private corporations. The technology is ideal for a diverse range of industries including airport security, banking ID verification, border initiatives, event security, payment systems, and employee access.
