USA Jet Airlines: Michigan Airline Takes Flight!
BELLEVILLE, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--It’s been an outstanding year for USA Jet Airlines, a Michigan-based air carrier. A gleaming bright spot in an otherwise inclement economy, this company has undergone significant business growth in the past year.
With a fleet of DC-9 jets offering Business Class seating, the company’s aircraft are experiencing high demand in the private and public charter market sectors. The passenger business took off last year with a very successful 2008 NCAA basketball season including last year’s March Madness. Soon afterwards, USA Jet flew daily non-stop flights to Augusta, Georgia for professional golf’s most prestigious event, The Masters.
Following their successful 2008 private charter spring season, the company embarked on its first public charter flight operations with two key customers in the tourism and destination vacation business. First, Holiday Air of Miami, Florida engaged USA Jet to operate regularly scheduled flights between San Juan, Puerto Rico and three exotic destinations in the Dominican Republic. Second, Direct Air, a travel and tour firm, contracted USA Jet to operate regularly scheduled flights between 10 U.S. cities and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, one of America’s most visited vacation destinations.
Not taking a vacation last summer were the U.S. Presidential candidates. During the busy campaign season USA Jet flew all of the top level candidates during their busy crisscrossing of the countryside. Barack Obama, John McCain, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, and Hillary Clinton all entrusted USA Jet to keep their demanding campaigns on schedule.
For the 2009 NCAA basketball season USA Jet landed contracts to fly numerous teams including four nationally prominent teams: Marquette, Kansas, Memphis and Gonzaga. The Kansas contract was established through a partnership with Short’s Sports and Event Logistics. In 2003 Short’s was awarded the NCAA championship basketball travel contract which runs through 2013.
“Short’s Travel has had the pleasure of working with USA Jet to provide charter services to its clients. The communication from USA Jet has been second to none, and their customer service is top notch. The flight crews take pride in providing a great experience for our clients, and do everything possible to exceed expectations,” stated Ryan Dohmen, Director of Charters for Short’s. He added, “Clients really enjoy the VIP treatment they receive when they fly on USA Jet’s aircraft.”
USA Jet is now in the midst of March Madness’ Final Four, keeping many of the company’s passenger jets busy. In an unprecedented move, USA Jet has been selected to carry not one but two of the Final Four teams. The company will fly the University of Connecticut and Villanova men’s basketball teams to the Final Four tournament rounds in Detroit, Michigan.
With the NCAA Final Four coming to Detroit, USA Jet’s home base at Willow Run will become a very popular airport for aircraft laden with athletes and journalists. The NCAA has designated Willow Run as the airport of choice for team and media travel. This air traffic represents another shot in the arm for USA Jet. Recently the firm launched a Fixed Base of Operations (FBO), where aircraft can park, refuel, and where pilots can develop their flight plans using the FBO’s systems. USA Jet’s FBO will host all three teams, as the firm’s technical crews will provide ground handling services for the University of North Carolina’s Delta flights.
“The NCAA Final Four is a terrific story that tops off a successful college basketball season,” said Frank Fuller, Vice President of Passenger Sales for USA Jet. He continued, “With the kind of year we have had, USA Jet is very optimistic about the future moving forward!”
