PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Christie, Parker & Hale LLP (CPH), one of Southern California’s leading intellectual property law firms, announced that the firm was instrumental in obtaining a major patent for its client Martin Aircraft Company, Limited, of New Zealand.
“The invention provides a robust, yet simplified design, for improved reliability and safety, making the invention a reality for use personally as well as commercially. I believe that this is the reason it was named as one of the Best Fifty Inventions of 2010 by Time Magazine”
U.S. Pat. No. 7,484,687 pertains to a propulsion device and more specifically to the Martin Jetpack. The jetpack (known as the "Martin Jetpack") covered by the patent was named by Time Magazine as one of "The Fifty Best Inventions of 2010." The inventive Martin Jetpack has an engine driving twin ducted fans which produce sufficient thrust to lift the Martin Jetpack and a pilot in vertical takeoff and landing, enable sustained flight, and provide for superior control. "The invention provides a robust, yet simplified design, for improved reliability and safety, making the invention a reality for use personally as well as commercially. I believe that this is the reason it was named as one of the Best Fifty Inventions of 2010 by Time Magazine," commented Constantine "Gus" Marantidis, the CPH partner who successfully prosecuted the patent.
"When the Martin Aircraft Company was ready to protect its intellectual property rights, we looked for an experienced patent attorney with skills in aviation and a great reputation. We chose Mr. Marantidis and his firm CPH. It was the right decision. He has been unsurpassed at helping us through the process and offered us great advice and support. We look forward to further working with Mr. Marantidis and CPH as we move into the next phase in the Martin Jetpack’s development, which is the commercialization of both the manned and unmanned (UAV) versions of the Jetpack to fulfill global orders for this unique invention," stated Martin Aircraft founder and inventor of the Martin Jetpack, Glenn Martin.
