Skyscanner Launches New Flight Finding app for Windows Phone
EDINBURGH, Scotland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Following the huge success of Skyscanner’s apps for iPhone and Android phones, the flight comparison site has now launched an app for Microsoft Windows Phone.
“Skyscanner is a fantastic addition to the ever growing range of apps hitting Nokia Lumia smartphones - a welcome consumer favourite that saves time, money and effort for our users.”
The free app will be available to download across all Windows Phones, including the new Nokia Lumia 800.
In addition to allowing users to search millions of routes on over 1000 airlines to find the cheapest flights in seconds, the app also lets users track prices of selected flights with the unique ‘Live Tile’ function of Windows Phones. Users can pin selected flights to their Start screen and the prices automatically update every hour.
Barry Smith, Skyscanner
Director of Mobile commented:
“With almost 5 million downloads
across iPhone and Android devices, the Skyscanner app has been extremely
popular with mobile users and we’re very excited to be bringing it to
the Windows Phone platform.
“The unique ‘Live Tile’ feature, which is exclusive to the Windows Phone app, is expected to prove very popular in allowing users to pick a flight and monitor the price as it automatically updates.”
Nick Hedderman, Head of Consumer Marketing for Windows Phone UK at
Microsoft commented:
“I am delighted to see Skyscanner on Windows
Phone. Not only is this yet another great brand within our Marketplace,
the team at Skyscanner have built the app to take advantage of the
unique features of Windows Phone, such as using a Live Tile. Consumers
will find using the Skyscanner service effortless.”
Keith Varty, Head of EDX from Nokia added:
“Skyscanner is a
fantastic addition to the ever growing range of apps hitting Nokia Lumia
smartphones - a welcome consumer favourite that saves time, money and
effort for our users.”
The Skyscanner app is available free from the Windows Phone Marketplace.
