Dassault Falcon Offers ADS-B Out STC for Falcon 50EX Aircraft
Dépèche transmise le 14 février 2012 par PRNewswire
SAINT-CLOUD, France, February 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Dassault Falcon has developed a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) to install ADS-B Out (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast Out) on Falcon 50EX aircraft equipped with ProLine 4 avionics. With this STC, Falcon operators can take advantage of the safety and operational improvements of the new technology before the mandated compliance dates set by airworthiness authorities.
ADS-B is a satellite-based surveillance technology for tracking aircraft and is part of the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen). The ADS-B infrastructure is expected to be operational by 2013. Falcon operators who choose to have the STC kit installed beforehand can realize advantages such as optimized flight paths and reduced separation in areas of limited or no radar coverage where the service is currently operational.
"We've made it a priority to develop new products that can improve safety and operational efficiencies for both in and out of production aircraft models," said Frank Youngkin, Senior Vice President of Customer Service for Dassault Falcon. "In the case of ADS-B Out, there are many benefits operators can take advantage of prior to the mandated compliance date, so we put a focus on bringing this STC to market as soon as possible."
The STC Data Package calls for replacing existing transponders with upgraded units that support the new protocol, along with wiring and other related components. It can be installed by any Dassault Service Center as well as any Authorized Service Center. The installation takes approximately two weeks, but requires no additional downtime if combined with a C Check. EASA certification for the STC package is expected later in the year.
