Pilot Flying J Selects Predixion Software for Predictive Analytics
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Predixion Software announced today that Pilot Flying J, which operates 550 interstate travel centers and travel plazas in North America and is one of the top 10 privately held companies in the United States, has purchased and deployed Predixion Insight™, Predixion Software's collaborative predictive analytics solution that fully integrates with Microsoft Corp.'s business intelligence (BI) platform.
“We are delighted to welcome Pilot Flying J to the Predixion Software customer family”
Pilot Flying J is using Predixion Insight to develop powerful market basket association models that help the company highly optimize inventory and reduce overall costs from its operations. In addition, Predixion Insight has assisted Pilot Flying J in identifying possible product placement non-compliance in it stores and kicked outliers out on a regularly scheduled basis for further examination by marketing personnel and sales analysts.
Pilot Flying J, the largest retail operator of travel centers in North America, was formed from the merger of Pilot Travel Centers LLC and Flying J Inc. in June 2010. The company currently maintains a 10 terabyte Microsoft SQL Server-based data warehouse, three Microsoft Analysis Services servers, as well as Microsoft PowerPivot and Excel that serve more than 2,000 consumers of BI ranging from the chief operating officer down to store managers. For predictive analytics, the company initially utilized the Microsoft data mining market basket add-in but quickly out-scaled the solution, resulting in the company conducting a search for a more flexible, highly scalable solution.
The company recently adopted PowerPivot which is helping make the company's IT operations much more agile, and is a big user of Excel as well. Predixion Insight's integration with PowerPivot, Microsoft Excel and the entire Microsoft BI ecosystem were key in Pilot Flying J selecting Predixion Insight, along with its demonstrated performance and scalability.
“We are delighted to welcome Pilot Flying J to the Predixion Software customer family,” said Predixion Software co-founder and CEO Simon Arkell. “Gone are the days where predictive analytics could only be performed by a few, highly trained statisticians. We are pleased to be working with Pilot Flying J to bring these powerful analytical capabilities to its mainstream user community.”
