Famous WWII Bomber & Fighter Planes for National Tour to Be Hosted by Valair Aviation at Wiley Post Airport
Dépèche transmise le 15 mars 2012 par Business Wire
OKLAHOMA CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Valair Aviation, an AGC Aerospace & Defense Company, will host aircraft on display for the Collings Foundation’s Wing of Freedom Tour at Wiley Post Airport. The tour is open to the public April 6th – 8th.
“This is a very exciting event for the community and we are proud to host this showcase of American aviation history at our facility”
Being billed as “The Ultimate Living History Experience,” this once-in-a-lifetime experience offers attendees the opportunity to fly aboard the B-17 or B-24 Bombers or get some “stick time” in the world’s only Dual Control P-51C Mustang Fighter.
“This is a very exciting event for the community and we are proud to host this showcase of American aviation history at our facility,” stated Jeff Snyder, president of Valair. “We look forward to see people of all ages take advantage of this opportunity to see several of the most famous aircraft of the WWII era.”
Valair will host the B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator and P-51 Mustang for a public static display and morning/evening flights. They will provide ‘Wings of Freedom’ Flight Experiences for the restored World War II aircraft: B-17 and B-24 for $425 per person / per flight. Walk-through tours are available $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 years and younger.
The "Wings of Freedom Tour" has two goals: to honor the sacrifices made by our veterans that allow us to enjoy our freedom; and to educate the visitors, especially younger Americans, about our national history and heritage.
The Foundation encourages people to tour the planes, talk to the veterans who come to visit the aircraft, and participate in a "flight experience.” In twenty-two years, the tour has made more than 2,600 visits to airports across the United States and Alaska. While the exact number of visitors is difficult to gauge, it is estimated that between 3.5 and 4 million people see these “warbirds” annually.
