LSG Sky Chefs puts NightWatchman Enterprise from 1E on the menu for PC power management
LONDON & NEU-ISENBURG, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--1E, the global leader in IT efficiency software, today announced that it has been selected for an IT Efficiency project by leading global airline catering and in-flight services provider LSG Sky Chefs. LSG Sky Chefs, which is headquartered in Neu-Isenburg, Germany, selected 1E to increase the energy efficiency of its global estate of PCs and keep them patched and healthy.
LSG Sky Chefs operates some 200 customer service centers in 52 countries. In 2011, the company produced about 492 million airline meals for more than 300 airlines worldwide.
Dirk Kröning, Vice President, Global IT Infrastructure, LSG Sky Chefs says: “We began by internally testing NightWatchman Enterprise on a small subset of our PCs. In our environment, the majority are back-office PCs which can be power managed, but some 800 or so are core business machines which do need to be kept on 24/7. Despite having to exclude the PCs which need to be available all of the time from the new power saving policies, we still found the potential for significant energy savings, so we decided to license the solution across our global PCs.”
“Based on our pilot project, powering down our corporate PCs during non–work hours is expected to save LSG Sky Chefs approximately €70,000 per year. In other words, we’re saving almost 400,000 kWh of electricity, which is the same amount used by 35 homes in one year or roughly 300 metric tons of CO2 - the same amount emittedby 59 passenger cars during the course of one year1. Deploying PC power management is a valuable part of our global Environmental Strategy,” concludes Kröning.
NightWatchman® Enterprise is a proven solution for PC power management and patching. In a recent report entitled Selecting a PC Power Management Solution Vendor from independent analyst firm Ovum, 1E ranks as the reporting leader by virtue of its expansive breadth and depth of reporting capabilities.
Rhonda Ascierto, Ovum senior analyst for energy and sustainability technology and author of the report, says, “NightWatchman Enterprise should be shortlisted by mid to large-size organizations that seek a best-of-breed, stand-alone PCPM solution that can also perform patch management and PC health remediation. NightWatchman Enterprise is an excellent choice for organizations with a focus on sustainability because its reports include CO2 consumption and savings, which can feed into company-wide sustainability reports.”
“We are delighted to see LSG Sky Chefs take the first step towards greater IT Efficiency. One of the fastest and most effective ways in which organisations can become energy efficient is to look at their IT infrastructure. To date, 1E has helped more than 1,600 customers make €1.1 billion in efficiency savings. This includes €620m in energy costs alone and a reduction in CO2 emissions of 5.8 million tonnes,” comments Sumir Karayi, CEO, 1E.
NightWatchman Enterprise is licensed on 8 million PCs worldwide and is the market-leading, most comprehensive solution for enterprise PC power management.
