The Carlisle Brake & Friction segment’s acquisition of Hawk contributed $76.2 million in sales in the first quarter of 2011, or 14% from the first quarter of 2010. Organic sales increased by 13% from the prior year, with sales growth in all segments with the exception of Carlisle FoodService Products.

Today, Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) expressed its gratitude on behalf of taxpayers over the Defense Department’s (DOD) decision to terminate its contract with the General Electric/Rolls Royce Fighter Engine Team for the production of the F136 alternate engine for the Joint Strike Fighter. CAGW has led the opposition to the engine since it was first disclosed as an earmark in 2004. On March 24, 2011 the DOD issued a stop-work order on the $1 million per day project, but the GE/Rolls Royce contract remained intact until it was ended today.
