Rockwell Collins, Inc. today reported first quarter fiscal year 2012 income from continuing operations of $130 million compared to $150 million in the same period last year. Earnings per share from continuing operations for the quarter were $0.86, a decrease of $0.09, or 9%, from earnings per share of $0.95 in the first quarter of 2011. Prior year results included a favorable impact to income tax expense of $21 million, or 13 cents per share, related to differences in the availability of the Federal R&D Tax Credit. Excluding the impact of these prior year tax-related items, earnings per share in the first quarter of 2012 would have been up 4 cents, or 5%, when compared to last year.
