How JetBlue Turned Crisis into Opportunity: JetBlue Airways to Discuss Crisis Communications at 2009 Continuity Insights Conference
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In the winter of 2007, major airline carrier JetBlue Airways experienced a series of irregular operations that forced it to reassess its emergency notification capabilities. At next week’s Seventh Annual Continuity Insights Management Conference, JetBlue will discuss how it ultimately turned this crisis situation into an opportunity.
The 45-minute session, presented by JetBlue's Director of Emergency Response and Care, Penny Neferis, will cover the series of emergency situations that JetBlue underwent and highlight how the company used Varolii's automated communications to meet these challenges by communicating quickly and effectively to a highly dispersed and mobile workforce of more than 12,000 employees.

WHO: Penny Neferis, director of Emergency Response and Care, JetBlue Airways. Neferis has been with JetBlue since its inception. She joined the company as a Safety Manager and developed the JetBlue Emergency Response Department in September 2001. She currently coordinates the airline's annual exercise drills, trains the JetBlue care team, ensures that all members are current in their training and handles all updates to the JetBlue Emergency Operations Manual. Neferis holds a degree in Aviation Safety from Dowling College and has worked with the National Transportation Safety Board.
