Axis Introduces High-Performance, Outdoor-Ready PTZ Dome Camera With H.264 Compression

CHELMSFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, today announced the AXIS Q6032-E PTZ Dome Network Camera, an outdoor-ready, high-performance PTZ dome camera designed for easy and reliable installation in demanding surveillance applications.

The new network camera, which features H.264 compression, auto-tracking and electronic image stabilization is ideal for use at airports and seaports, as well as for city and perimeter surveillance.

Arctic Temperature Control, a new and unique functionality from Axis, is introduced for the first time in the AXIS Q6032-E. It allows the camera to not only function at -40° F (-40° C), but also power up at that temperature following a power failure. The camera can operate in temperatures ranging from -40° F to 122° F (-40° C to 50° C) and has an IP66-rated protection against dust and water.

The AXIS Q6032-E is powered through High Power over Ethernet (High PoE), which simplifies installation since only one cable is needed for carrying power, as well as video and pan/tilt/zoom controls. With High PoE, the camera can continue to operate even during a power failure as the network can be connected to an uninterruptible power supply. A High PoE midspan is supplied with the camera.

The camera’s superb video quality is achieved through a number of features including automatic day and night functionality, 128x wide dynamic range, progressive scan technology and a powerful 35x optical and 12x digital zoom with autofocus. License plates, for instance, can be read from a distance of more than 500 ft. (160m). A moving object within the camera’s field of view can also be automatically detected and followed using the camera’s intelligent auto-tracking functionality.

The AXIS Q6032-E provides several independent streams of the H.264 video compression format, which greatly optimizes bandwidth and storage use without compromising image quality. Motion JPEG is also supported for increased flexibility.

The camera’s built-in SD/SDHC memory card slot enables up to days of recordings to be stored locally. The AXIS Q6032-E includes advanced network capabilities for improved security, efficiency and manageability. The camera is supported by the AXIS Camera Station video management software, as well as the industry’s largest base of application software through Axis’ Application Development Partner program.

The AXIS Q6032-E will be available to order in June 2009 for a list price of $3199.
