Black Box Attains ISO/IEC 20000-1:2005 Certification
PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Black Box Corporation (NASDAQ:BBOX), an industry-leading provider of voice communications, data infrastructure, and product solutions, announced today that it has achieved ISO/IEC 20000-1:2005 certification for its IT services at the Miami International Airport. Black Box manages and runs the Network Operations Center for the airport. Services include traditional telephony, messaging, mobility, network infrastructure, data networking, wireless connectivity, digital signage, and network maintenance. This marks the first time Black Box has received this certification.
ISO/IEC 20000-1:2005 is the IT Service Management Standard issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Black Box received the certification in February 2009 as part of its commitment to quality IT Service Management. To be certified, the company implemented an integrated set of management processes for the effective delivery of IT services to the staff, businesses, and customers at the Miami International Airport (MIA) and consistently exhibits the commitment of Black Box and Miami International Airport to IT service excellence. Under Black Box’s IT management, the airport is the first in the United States to follow the IT Infrastructure Library® (ITIL®) of best practices.
Black Box also holds ISO 9001:2000 certifications for its U.S., Canada, Europe, Latin America, and Pacific Rim operations.
“We’re deeply committed to quality and have taken the comprehensive step of requiring our voice and data services, as well as our product manufacturing location to be certified,” said Louis A. Gorga, Director of Operations for Black Box. “This certification reaffirms our dedication to providing our clients with the highest level of service governed by industry best practices.”
ISO/IEC 20000-1:2005 defines the requirements for the provision of IT services. It is based on BS 15000-2, which has been superseded. The standard is maintained by ISO and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). ISO is a federation of 159 national standards bodies based in Geneva, Switzerland. The certification audits are performed by Intertek.
Commenting on the Black Box certification, Sheila Handy, the Intertek lead auditor performing the audit said, “Black Box has established strong controls within their change, configuration, and release management process delivery systems. The management team’s focused commitment to the overall IT Service Management System is outstanding.”
