Horizon Air Celebrates 20 Years of Service to Vancouver, B.C.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Horizon Air is celebrating 20 years of continuous service at Vancouver International Airport with a customer appreciation event on May 7.
“We’re excited to be celebrating 20 years of service to Vancouver, coinciding with our 20th anniversary in providing transborder service,” said Dan Russo, vice president of marketing and communications for Horizon. “The partnerships we’ve fostered over the years, paired with connecting the Vancouver region to the U.S. airline route system, has been nothing but positive for both Horizon and Vancouver. We look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries.”
”Horizon Air has long been a leader in providing convenient, customer-focused service for passengers traveling between Vancouver and key U.S. destinations, including Portland and Seattle,” said Larry Berg, president and CEO of the Vancouver Airport Authority. “We are delighted to celebrate this important service milestone with the airline, and look forward to many more years of Horizon connections from Vancouver throughout the Pacific Northwest.”
Horizon has transported more than 2.6 million passengers from the Vancouver area since May 7, 1989, the day it began serving the airport. Service started with five daily flights to Seattle in the 37-seat Bombardier Q200 and one Sunday-only flight to Bellingham, Wash., in the 18-seat Fairchild Metroliner III. Since that time, it has grown to six daily flights to Seattle and two daily flights to Portland, Ore. Horizon now provides that service with the comfortable 76-seat Q400, a high-speed turboprop built by Canadian manufacturer Bombardier.
Horizon serves 47 cities throughout Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Baja California Sur (Mexico), and British Columbia and Alberta (Canada). Together, Horizon Air and Alaska Airlines serve more than 90 cities and are subsidiaries of Alaska Air Group, Inc. (NYSE:ALK).
