Nanocomp Technologies Wins Major Research Contract from United States Government
CONCORD, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nanocomp Technologies, Inc., a developer of energy saving performance materials and component products from carbon nanotubes (CNTs), today announced that it has been awarded a research contact to further develop nanotechnology-based products for use in aerospace applications. The contract comes on the heels of Nanocomp’s recent receipt of two awards by the Department of Defense under its Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.
The high thermal and electrical conductivity of CNTs, combined with their extreme strength to weight ratio, make the Company’s materials attractive for use in aerospace engineering. As such, Nanocomp will use this funding to advance the suitability of nanotube-based material for a number of aerospace applications, ranging from thermal management and electromagnetic shielding to electrical and power generation system enhancements.
Senator Judd Gregg stated, “Accelerating the development of nanotechnology is critical to national security and global competitiveness. This funding builds upon the significant role that the high-tech industry plays in growing our state’s economy and it is exciting to see a New Hampshire small business leading this next-generation industry.”
“These days, job creation is a national priority and we can all take pride in delivering a direct path to new jobs in New Hampshire with this funding,” said Representative Paul Hodes.
“We continue to make significant progress in transitioning CNT materials into high performance components for value-add solutions and look forward to working with the U.S. Government to advance the scope of these applications,” said Peter Antoinette, president and CEO of Nanocomp Technologies.
