Dépèche transmise le 24 juin 2009 par PRNewswire
PHOENIX, June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- AmSafe(R) Inc., a leading global provider of engineered restraint systems, today announced that its AmSafe Bridport business unit has launched TARIAN, a ground breaking lightweight protection solution against Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs).

TARIAN is capable of defeating the same threats as existing bar or slat armor, but at significantly reduced weight which allows improvements to the vehicle's protection elsewhere. Designed to withstand the rigors of the battlefield, the TARIAN system is fitted to the UK Army Heavy Equipment Transporters which are currently in use on operations in Afghanistan. Given its unique design and lightweight properties, TARIAN is also easy to replace if it is damaged in the field.
The technology behind TARIAN is the result of a close collaboration with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD). Developed as a modular system, TARIAN can be configured to a wide range of vehicle and static applications.
"Our strong partner relationship with UK MoD and third party contributors has enabled AmSafe to utilise its lightweight technologies developed for aerospace applications and apply them toward an innovative light weight threat protection solution that is an effective replacement for bar and slat armor. This collaborative approach to UK military capability development is a great example of the practical application of the principles outlined in the UK's Defence Industrial Strategy," stated Neal McKeever, director and general manager of defence for AmSafe Bridport.
