Homeland Security Firm Reinvents Collaborative Planning Approach Using Innovative Technology to Create Exercise Plans for the Atlanta International Airport
ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ThePresponse Solutions Group recently used CEMPlanner while working with a multi-agency planning team at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to develop an FAA mandated, HSEEP-compliant full-scale exercise. HSEEP compliant planning templates were created in the web-based software at the start of the planning process, thereby ensuring compliance with DHS guidelines.
Developing effective exercise plans requires stakeholder “buy-in” and rigorous cooperation between members of the exercise planning team and the contractor. Jon Gordon, CEO of the Presponse Solutions Group, said, “CEMPlanner provided the exercise planning team with 24/7 access to collaborative planning tools that accommodated even the busiest work schedules. Planners stayed connected to the planning process as their schedules permitted and were able to provide feedback on pending issues requiring discussion and resolution.”
The original idea behind the CEMPlanner was to provide emergency planners with a better way to build standards-based plans, reduce formatting time, and minimize document version control. The Presponse Solutions Group demonstrated CEMPlanner capabilities and as result, helped the exercise planning team improve collaboration, accountability, and HSEEP compliant work products.
“CEMPlanner increases client’s comfort level throughout the project lifecycle by providing 24/7 access to the planning process,” said Gordon. “Clients can monitor my company’s work at their convenience and still provide timely guidance and feedback between scheduled meetings. In addition, when planners are not able to attend, they can still participate by submitting assigned work products in advance, thereby avoiding delays in the planning timeline.”
Gordon stated that, “Another useful feature is the Instant Messaging tool. During the preceding tabletop exercise, each component of the ICS organizational structure could send and receive exercise-related information in real time during the breakout sessions without disrupting the flow of the exercise.”
