HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AeroMexico has added five weekly, non-stop flights between San Francisco and Hermosillo, Mexico, the airline’s first expansion of service in San Francisco since the market was added to its North American operations in February 2009. Flights depart San Francisco International Airport at 1:45 p.m. PDT and arrive in Hermosillo at 4:00 p.m. PDT every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Return flights depart Hermosillo at 10:30 a.m., arriving in San Francisco at 12:45 p.m. on the same days. Convenient, connecting flights are available daily in Hermosillo to five other destinations throughout Mexico – Los Mochis, Culiacan, Ciudad Obregon, Chihuahua and Monterrey. The airline also offers daily non-stop flights between San Francisco and Mexico City.

Frank Galan, Vice President, North America Division, AeroMexico, said, “AeroMexico has expanded its San Francisco operations just five months after entering the market because passenger traffic has been very solid. We’re confident that the airline’s new service to Hermosillo will be as well received as our flights to Mexico City. Advance bookings have been quite healthy, which means a real need exists for this service among family and friends in these markets, vacationers and business travelers.”

The new route expands the airline’s presence in California, which is already AeroMexico’s largest U.S. market with four cities served – San Francisco, Los Angeles, Ontario and San Diego. It is also the ninth route added to the airline’s North American operations in 2009.

“California stands out as AeroMexico’s most important U.S. market. We plan to continue to add new routes within the state as part of our strategic expansion of the airline’s North American operations,” added Galan.

Passengers on the new route will benefit from the outstanding value provided by the airline’s competitive fares and premier style of award-winning service. On every two-hour, fifteen-minute flight, they will travel on ERJ-145 regional jets, which comfortably seat 50 passengers. Travelers will receive personalized, attentive in-flight service that includes complimentary beverages and snacks. The airline earned “Best Airline in Mexico” awards in 2008 from readers of both Global Traveler and Business Traveler magazines.

AeroMexico and its subsidiary, AeroMexico Connect, operate more than 600 daily flights through the airline’s new Terminal 2 at its Mexico City International Airport hub to more than 45 destinations in Mexico, 17 U.S. cities in 12 states, two cities in two Canadian provinces, and major international destinations that include Tokyo, Paris and Buenos Aires in 12 other countries worldwide. AeroMexico Vacations provides customized vacation travel packages throughout the airline’s service network. The airline also offers connecting service to other international destinations through its SkyTeam global airline alliance with 14 other carriers. AeroMexico has been recognized for its award-winning style of personalized in-flight service, one of the world’s best on-time flight records, the highest safety and quality standards ratings, outstanding reliability and baggage handling performance, and exceptional value based on its competitive fares and superior service.
