Dépèche transmise le 20 juillet 2009 par PRNewswire
HALLBERGMOOS, The Netherlands, July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- After intensive cooperation with the Indian Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), EUROJET Turbo GmbH, the leading European military engine consortium, has received a Request for Proposal (RFP) from ADA to offer it`s EJ200 engine as a potential alternative power source for the Indian Light Combat Aircraft (LCA). EUROJET is now working on the response and will submit it to ADA within 12 weeks. The suitability of the EJ200 for the LCA was confirmed by EUROJET and ADA after having conducted a joint comprehensive feasibility study in 2008.
EUROJET is contracted to produce more than 1,500 EJ200 engines to power a total of 707 Eurofighter Typhoon multi-role combat aircraft ordered by six nations. The fleet of over 550 engines in service with Eurofighter Typhoon fleets operated by the Air Forces of Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Austria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had amassed over 125,000 Engine Flying Hours.
NOTES TO EDITORS:
The EUROJET consortium is responsible for the management of development, support and export functions of the new generation EJ200 engine system, installed in the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft.
