MOSCOW--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced it has been selected to supply the hydraulic system for the new MC21 single-aisle aircraft line to be produced by Irkut Corporation. The announcement was made during a contract signing ceremony yesterday at the Moscow Air Show.
“Eaton is pleased to provide our advanced technology to Irkut’s exciting new MC21 series of aircraft,” said Brad Morton, president, Eaton’s Aerospace Group. “The MC21 project represents a major advancement in the redevelopment of the Russian Aerospace Industry. By participating as a development partner and supplier for the MC21, Eaton is taking significant steps to support this global industry expansion.”
Eaton will engage a number of Russian suppliers in the design and manufacture of system subcomponents. This cooperation will provide learning opportunities both for Russian companies working within the Western supply chain for the first time and for Eaton working with Russian aerospace suppliers.
“We look forward to working with Eaton as we introduce this new line of innovative aircraft to the world market,” said Andrey Matveev, vice president of Irkut Corporation, MC21 program director. “The teamwork involved on the MC21 project will be mutually beneficial for both companies, and this new relationship can also be a catalyst for creating more collaborative opportunities for the future.”
“The contract with Irkut is just one example of the way Eaton is working with business leaders throughout Europe to develop opportunities and expand Eaton's presence in new markets," said Yannis Tsavalas, president of Eaton’s Europe, Middle East, and Africa region. “The superior quality, technology and innovation we offer will be a tremendous advantage to the global aerospace industry as companies such as Irkut seek more advanced engineering solutions for improved aircraft designs.”
Although challenges in global markets have affected economic growth, the Russian market continues to be important for Eaton. In June, Eaton announced a new business alliance with Russian Helicopters, JSC, for parts assembly in Russia.
In the aerospace industry, Eaton is a leading supplier of hydraulic, electro-hydraulic pump and generator products and integrated systems; electric motors; aircraft flap and slat systems; fluid conveyance products and systems; nose wheel steering systems; integrated control systems; cockpit controls; power and load management systems; and pressure sensors and fluid debris monitoring products and systems. Eaton serves commercial and military aviation, aerospace, military weapons, marine and off-road markets worldwide.
