Expand Networks Demonstrates Virtual and Mobile Acceleration for US Air Force Communications
ROSELAND, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Expand Networks www.expand.com, the largest supplier of WAN Optimization products to US Government and Military agencies, will exhibit the latest innovations in acceleration techniques for US Air Force communications at AFITC 2009.
As all armed forces seek to determine the best methods to deliver network services, advances in optimization techniques are enabling the delivery of high-performance distributed services in tactical environments over low bandwidth – high latency links. Used across national security communications programs in the air, at sea and on land, these optimized mobile data centers dramatically increase network throughput, speed and application responsiveness across multiple classified and unclassified communications networks to bring real-time network services closer to the forward edge of the battlespace to accelerate decision-making and operations.
Since its initial 1999 rollout in the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), more than 11,000 Expand Networks Accelerators have been deployed throughout the US government and in all branches of the American Military. Expand Networks accelerators have been used in US Joint Forces C-17 cargo aircraft for mobile, tactical mission as part of the J-EMPRS project and deployed in the US Air Force airborne battle management, command and control, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance platform, Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (Joint STARS).
A US Joint Forces spokesperson stated that the techniques used by Expand Networks have provided a significant increase in bandwidth utilization and link reliability. These techniques ensure optimization is achieved even under traditionally challenging and extreme conditions such as on aircraft, mobile environments and remote and unattended locations.
