Lone Star Overnight Implements Technology Upgrade
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Lone Star Overnight (LSO), one of the fastest-growing regional overnight package delivery companies, has implemented a significant upgrade to its information technology systems. This multi-million-dollar investment includes next-generation, GPS-enabled handheld scanners for all delivery drivers and more robust dispatch and routing software. The upgrade will greatly improve the flow of up-to-the-minute package information, enhance delivery accuracy, reduce paperwork and increase fuel efficiency.
“We invested in this substantial upgrade to give our customers better visibility to package-level detail in real time and offer even higher levels of service,” said LSO Chief Operating Officer Rick Jones. “This technology will also enable our company to improve operational efficiencies so that we can continue to provide reliable, efficient regional overnight delivery service at a lower price than our national competitors.”
By combining Honeywell’s DolphinTM 9000 Series mobile computers with Countermind’s Mobile IntelligenceTM (MI) Deliver workflow processing application, LSO has extended numerous advantages to its customers, including:
- Enhanced package tracking capabilities via the LSO Web site.
- Immediate access to electronic proof of delivery signatures, captured by LSO’s drivers upon delivery, at www.lso.com or by calling the carrier’s Customer Service team.
- Real-time status for all packages. LSO’s Customer Service representatives can access stop-by-stop detail on all delivery routes and determine exactly when packages will be delivered.
- Increased pickup and delivery accuracy, thanks to the GPS feature in the handheld computers that triggers an alert if the package address and the delivery stop do not match.
In addition to the advantages for customers, the technology upgrade also enables LSO to optimize delivery routes and increase asset utilization – resulting in fewer miles driven, faster deliveries and a reduced carbon footprint.
“We are excited to partner with Lone Star Overnight to roll out the latest version of our MI Deliver product,” remarked Dan Barry, CEO of Countermind. “We’re confident that the deployed solution will lead to increased operational efficiencies and enable LSO to improve upon its industry-leading customer satisfaction levels.”
