Aeroméxico Report on Flight 576
MEXICO CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aeroméxico reports that its flight AM576, from Cancun with destination Mexico City received a bomb alert aboard the flight, which in accordance with the airline’s procedures, activated an emergency plan in coordination with the competent federal authorities.
The plane landed smoothly at 1:39 p.m. at Mexico City International Airport (AICM), without any incident to the passengers, crew, and aircraft.
The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800 with 104 passengers and seven crew members on board who upon landing at the Terminal area were transported to an isolated location designated by airport authorities for cases of this type. Thanks to the proficiency of the crew who acted with sensitivity, responsibility, and with strict adherence to the procedures manual for cases such as this, the passengers were not aware of the event until after landing at AICM, thus avoiding situations of alarm and panic onboard the flight.
“The authorities acted with great efficiency and expertise, in coordination with the personnel of Aeroméxico and succeeded in evacuating the crew and passengers without any deplorable incident,” confirmed Gabriel Parra, the director of international sales and alliances.
The security protocol, in compliance with the airline’s procedures manual, was put into action from the first moment the pilots reported the incident via the aircraft’s communications systems, permitting the appropriate coordination of ground staff and crew.
This incident reiterates the fact that Aeroméxico is a world class airline in terms of security protocol matters and has highly qualified staff with the necessary skills and know-how to perform in any extraordinary circumstance.
Aeroméxico extends wide recognition to members of the crew on this flight and thanks the authorities who gave all their support to the airline, its staff, and passengers.
