BILLERICA, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American Science and Engineering, Inc. (AS&E®) (NASDAQ: ASEI), a leading worldwide supplier of innovative X-ray detection solutions, announced today the receipt of a service contract award for up to $28.2 million from the U.S. government to provide service and maintenance for Z Backscatter Van (ZBV) X-ray inspection systems. The U.S. government has funded $24.4 million of the contract award with a remaining option of $3.8 million. The ZBVs are deployed by the U.S. government to support counterterrorism missions.
