DISCUS Releases New Planner Product and 3.5 Upgrade
COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DISCUS Software Company, which specializes in software to accelerate manufacturing and quality engineering, announced multiple improvements, including the addition of a new Planner module, the release of DISCUS 3.5, and a major upgrade to the DISCUS web site.
DISCUS Planner adds the capability to perform characteristic planning for a part throughout its lifecycle. It enables a user to create process illustrations, work instructions, and inspection characteristics for each operation in the routing. Since it works with the acclaimed DISCUS user interface, the Planner module is very easy to adopt. The DISCUS users have been a key driver in the development of the Planner functionality. Josh Church, Manufacturing Engineer at Vanderhorst Brothers in California said, “DISCUS Planner enables us to manage characteristics at each operation in the routing, and helps us ensure that all characteristics are properly addressed during production.”
The DISCUS 3.5 release includes enhancements in areas such as user productivity and reporting/exporting. This includes new features such as copy and paste of balloons and characteristics, as well as exporting user-defined graphics. DISCUS 3.5 also introduces new licensing flexibility that enables customers to purchase different quantities of DISCUS modules.
The DISCUS web site has also been upgraded to support existing and prospective customers. Bob Roush, DISCUS General Manager said, “Even though we previously focused on helping companies comply with AS9102, we’ve had many companies from the automotive and medical industries purchase DISCUS to help them with PPAP and Part 820. Thus, we’ve updated our product and web site to better support these interests.”
