Everspin Technologies to Provide Airbus with MRAM Products for Advanced Wide Body Aircraft
CHANDLER, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Everspin Technologies has been chosen by Airbus to supply high-performance MRAM products for flight-critical applications on the A350 XWB family of aircraft currently in development. MRAM’s unique features allow customers to simplify their system design and MRAM’s high level of reliability enables operation in extreme temperature and harsh environmental conditions associated with avionics and aerospace markets.
Everspin will supply 4Mb and 16Mb MRAM products for the Flight Control Computer on the Airbus A350 XWB civil aircraft. MRAM allows Airbus to replace previously used SRAM and Flash components with a single non-volatile read/write memory that provides faster speeds, unlimited write cycles and easier software updates.
“We are very pleased that Airbus is able to replace multiple memories with an MRAM in the Flight Control Computers in its latest generation of advanced aircraft,” said Saied Tehrani, Everspin’s chief operating officer. “Our MRAM product reliability, high-speed read and write performance and cost effectiveness allows us to meet Airbus’ system performance requirements, as well as their high quality standards.”
About MRAM
Everspin’s MRAM is a revolutionary memory that uses the magnetism of electron spin to provide non-volatility with no wear-out. Everspin MRAM stores information in magnetic material integrated with silicon circuitry to deliver highly reliable non-volatile memory with SRAM-like speed. This enables a true “instant-on” capability and power loss protection in many classes of electronic devices over a wide temperature range and for a variety of applications including: storage, industrial automation, gaming, energy management, communications, consumer, transportation and avionics.
About Everspin Technologies
Everspin Technologies is the global leader in developing and manufacturing standalone and embedded magnetic-based memory (MRAM) and integrated magnetic sensors. With roots in Freescale Semiconductor and now backed by prominent venture capital firms, Everspin launched its first commercial MRAM product in 2006. A growing number of leading corporations have adopted Everspin MRAM to enable their most advanced products. www.everspin.com
