International Civil Aviation Organization Relies on Critical Path’s Identity and Access Management Solutions for ePassport Initiative
MACCLESFIELD, England--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Critical Path, Inc., a leading provider of messaging applications and enterprise solutions, today announced that its Directory and Meta-Directory solutions, part of the Identity and Access Management Suite, have been selected by Netrust as a key element of the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) ePassport initiative.
ICAO is a United Nations Specialized Agency which acts as the global forum for civil aviation. To help fulfill its mandate for the safe, secure and sustainable development of civil aviation, ICAO introduced ePassports to enable enhanced safety and efficiency of aviation operations. They established a PKD (Public Key Directory) as a central repository for ePassport information and selected Netrust Pte Ltd to operate it on its behalf. ePassports contain biometric information and validate authenticity of documents for border control authorities.
Netrust selected Critical Path’s Directory and Meta-Directory solutions to provide the foundation for the PKD. Critical Path’s Directory was implemented to manage the access, authentication and authorization for personnel accessing the directory. Meta-Directory was used to implement the workflows for ICAO’s due diligence, automate the certificate processes, handle synchronization to ensure data integrity, and implement critical disaster recovery.
“Critical Path was the clear choice when we were developing and executing the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Public Key Directory framework,” says R. Rajeshkumar, Dy. CEO, Netrust. “Due to the complex nature of its business, ICAO had several unique challenges. Critical Path’s solutions are reliable, scalable, flexible and standards compliant which met the strict requirements for this implementation. They enabled us to minimize our development and implementation timeframes whilst enabling ongoing support and maintenance to be carried out efficiently and cost-effectively.”
“We are very pleased to be involved in the ICAO initiative with Netrust. We have a strong record of providing secure, scalable and reliable solutions to enterprises around the world, including government and international organizations where data security is a mission-critical concern,” says David Longley, VP Northern Europe and North America, Critical Path. “We look forward to continuing to work with ICAO and Netrust to support the ePassports initiative.”
