AeroMechanical Services Ltd. Markets the afirs “Maintenance Situational Awareness” System to the Business Aviation Market
Dépèche transmise le 19 octobre 2009 par Business Wire
CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AeroMechanical Services Ltd. (“AMA” or the “Company”), a leading provider of real time aircraft data services to airlines, used the National Business Aviation Association (“NBAA”) annual convention in Orlando, Florida this week to market its Maintenance Situational Awareness afirs™ system for the business aviation market.
Under the brand FLYHT™, AMA provides the Automated Flight Information Reporting System (afirsTM), an on-board system which monitors, reports, and records the performance and status of aircraft systems, and also sends critical data such as position and exceedances to the ground in real time via the Iridium satellite network. This data is processed by Flyht’s UpTimeTM ground network, which distills it into instantly usable information for the aircraft operator. Any data that is available electronically onboard the aircraft can be monitored, recorded, and transmitted. In a press release dated September 9, 2009 AMA previously announced that the afirs UpTime system’s capabilities have been expanded to stream live data, such as from a flight data recorder, to the ground in real time.
Jack Olcott, former president of NBAA and member of AMA’s board of directors said, “afirs/Uptime provides real-time data that enable effective interventions in critical areas such as unscheduled maintenance, which reduces aircraft reliability and dispatch availability. Data from afirs/Uptime also is a powerful tool for complying with government mandates, which are increasing in number and costly for the operators if not followed.”
AMA president, Richard Hayden, said, “The success of our recent testing in Europe aboard a large fleet operator’s Hawker business jet showed how our afirs system can help managers of business aircraft increase their maintenance situational awareness while reducing the cost of their operations and ensuring compliance with emerging emissions trading rules. Potential business aviation customers have expressed great interest in the potential for afirs in their operations and we anticipate that it will become a key tool in increasing operational efficiency for our customers.”
