Air New Zealand Makes Flying Fun Again with “Kiweets” Twitter Trivia

EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Twitter trivia could be the fastest way to jet across the Pacific this month with the launch of Air New Zealand’s “Kiweets” – a game that offers 30 chances to win a round-trip flight to New Zealand. As part of its “Make Flying Fun Again” campaign, the airline will ask daily trivia questions about New Zealand, with players sending their response to @kiweets for the chance to win one of 30 flights.

Players are encouraged to enter once a day for the 30 days of the contest, answering questions such as “We New Zealanders go by the name of a furry, flightless bird (and yes, a furry, flightless fruit). What is it?” The 30 economy-class ticket winners will be chosen at random from among the correct responses. Tweeters will also accumulate points toward a grand prize – the faster the response, the more points they receive – and the player with the highest score at the end of the contest will win a round-trip Business Premier ticket to New Zealand. Full rules and regulations can be found at www.kiweets.com.

“It has come to our attention that some of our American friends aren’t terribly familiar with New Zealand’s quirky humor and rich cultural history, so Air New Zealand is offering this incentive to properly introduce ourselves,” said Roger Poulton, Air New Zealand vice president – the Americas. “While Air New Zealand has offered world-class flights and service from the U.S. to New Zealand for more than 25 years, sometimes the allure of a well-timed freebie is what’s needed to encourage curious travelers to take the leap!”

Short on South Pacific savvy? Air New Zealand is extending the opportunity for in-flight fun to all Americans, offering flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco to New Zealand from just $838 (USD). Travelers must book before November 2, 2009 for travel between May 1 and June 8, 2010.
