Airship Ventures Marks One Year Anniversary
MOFFETT FIELD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--One year ago this past Sunday, the world’s largest airship, the Zeppelin Eureka, sailed through the Golden Gate into San Francisco and began offering flightseeing tours. In celebration of this milestone, Airship Ventures, the only passenger airship operation in the United States, is re-offering its most popular promotion on all regularly priced tours. Just in time for holiday gift-giving and family outings, if you buy one ticket at full price, you can buy a second at half price. This promotional rate will be given to passengers who book tours or buy gift certificates before Nov. 30.
“Bringing Eureka to San Francisco, we wanted to offer the public a way to see their world from a new perspective and be reminded of the magic of flying,” commented Airship Ventures Co-Founder and CEO Alexandra Hall. “Universally, our passengers disembark the airship grinning from ear-to-ear. Seeing that joy, I know we’ve succeeded.”
“Like floating in a luxury skybox on a cloud,” as one passenger described it, Airship Ventures flightseeing tours have delighted thousands of passengers in the company’s first year. In addition to signature tours over the San Francisco Bay, passengers can enjoy spectacular bird’s-eye views of Los Angeles, Monterey, Santa Cruz and Silicon Valley from the airship. Newest among the company’s flightseeing experiences are three tours of the South Bay that highlight the unique character of the region:
Silicon Valley Geek Tour: See the sights that made Silicon Valley famous. The solar panels that power the bright minds at Google, the round towers of Yahoo and Oracle, the sprawling Apple campus at Infinite Loop and the two-mile long Stanford Linear accelerator are just a few of the sights passengers see on this 90-minute tour from Moffett Field.
South Bay Scenery Tour: Remember what the South Bay was known for before the tech boom. Admire the stunning Los Altos, Saratoga and Los Gatos hills, including Filoli Gardens, Villa Montalvo and Tuscan-style hillside vineyards on this 90-minute tour from Moffett Field.
Taste of Zeppelin: A 30-minute taste of the Zeppelin experience. Soar above NASA Ames Research Center; Moffett Field’s historic airship hangars, some of the largest freestanding structures on the planet; and Stanford University. Flights include admission to the Moffett Field Museum, which details the massive dirigibles and hard working Navy Blimps of the past.
Eureka’s first year proved the airship is not only a great sightseeing venue, but also a versatile platform for marketing, entertainment, scientific research and events. In just one year Eureka helped launch one of the most successful movies of 2009, Disney-Pixar’s UP; worked with top-scientists at NASA, SETI and MBARI to explore our environment; entertained numerous radio and television crews for live broadcasts; and hosted dozens of meetings and events, all while offering passengers the most spectacular views of California and the coastline possible.
“It’s been an amazing first year,” continued Hall. “We look forward to growing to new locations and sharing the Zeppelin experience with even more passengers in the future.”
Stretching 15-feet longer than a 747 and 50-feet longer than the largest blimp, Eureka is the world’s largest airship. One of only three Zeppelins currently operating in the world, Eureka offers passengers spectacular 360-degree views of the sights on flightseeing tours above the San Francisco Bay, Silicon Valley, Monterey and Los Angeles.
