Innovative Solutions & Support, Inc. Awarded Cockpit Display Retrofit Contract for Falcon 2000 and 2000EX Aircraft
EXTON, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Avionics maker Innovative Solutions & Support, Inc. (IS&S) (NASDAQ:ISSC) today announced that it has been selected by Dassault Falcon to provide flat-panel cockpit displays that will be offered as part of an upgrade program for operators of Falcon 2000 and 2000EX aircraft.
Dassault Falcon is developing an STC for Falcon 2000 and 2000EX operators that have the original flight deck displays. The STC will allow operators to upgrade to a set of four flat panel LCD displays. The upgrade adds the functionality of e-charts and satellite weather.
The suite of LCD displays are each fully integrated units, offering both weight and power savings over CRT units. Original aircraft wiring is retained as is the displays’ existing interface within the existing control panel.
“This STC will benefit Falcon 2000 and Falcon 2000EX non-EASy operators by bringing a new suite of features that substantially increase situational awareness and safety with comparatively little downtime,” said Geoff Chick, Dassault Falcon Director of Service Engineering.
A company spokesman for IS&S said, “We are extremely pleased to be working with Dassault Falcon to provide low-cost retro-fit solutions to their existing fleet.” “These upgrades provide significant improvement in functionality and situational awareness, which makes the resale of these aircraft far more attractive when the user decides to upgrade to a new aircraft in the future.”
The suite of LCD displays has the potential to create a paperless cockpit by offering Class 3 E-Charts (in combination with a Jeppesen data subscription), moving maps and XM weather. The STC will be available exclusively through Dassault Falcon and can be installed by Dassault Aircraft Services (DAS) in the United States and Dassault Falcon Services (DFS) in France.
IS&S’s four 10.4-inch flat panel display systems will dramatically alter the flight decks’ look by providing enhanced situational awareness and expanded functionality that reduces crew workload and aircraft weight. The installed system will save an estimated 45 pounds and is designed to be retrofitted with a minimum of downtime.
