Dépèche transmise le 19 mai 2010 par PRNewswire
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, May 19, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Goodrich Corporation has signed an agreement with Icelandair to provide a custom-tailored nacelle maintenance program for the airline's Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4 engines that power its fleet of Boeing 757 aircraft. The agreement, a Goodrich Aerostructures Prime Solutions(R) nacelle maintenance management program, includes thrust reverser refurbishment and use of rotable assets. The maintenance work will be done at Goodrich Aerostructures' Prestwick Service Center in Scotland. The contract is structured to provide Icelandair with a reliable, cost-effective nacelle maintenance program integrated with its planned maintenance activities.
Jens Bjarnsson, senior vice president of Technical Services for Icelandair, said, "Now that Icelandair is entering a period of the nacelle lifecycle that will require a more proactive approach to maintenance, it is a logical progression to reinforce our longstanding relationship with Goodrich Aerostructures' Prestwick Service Center. We have benefited from Goodrich's experience and expertise in thrust reverser refurbishment and nacelle maintenance since 1996, and this customized agreement will allow us to continue to do so."
Steve Callan, general manager of Goodrich's Prestwick Service Center, said, "This Prime Solutions agreement is a great example of how we are able to use our experience in managing nacelle maintenance to meet customer needs. In addition to being the original equipment manufacturer on the RB211-535E4 thrust reverser, we have the largest pool of rotable and expendable inventory along with decades of fleet experience on that nacelle system. That makes Goodrich uniquely positioned to offer this integrated life cycle solution to our customer."
Goodrich has been a part of the RB211-535 program since initial design and certification activities in the late 1970s and continues to provide technical, spare parts and repair and overhaul support for the 1,200 RB211-535 nacelles currently in service.
Icelandair is the flag carrier airline of Iceland, based in Reykjavik. It is part of the Icelandair Group and operates services to 25 cities in 12 countries on both sides of the Atlantic. Its main base is Keflavik International Airport. Icelandair operates a single aircraft type fleet of 19 Boeing 757 powered by RB211-535E4 engines.
The Prestwick Service Center, part of Goodrich's global nacelle Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) network, is a certified FAA repair station and a recognized leader in nacelle system MRO services. The center recently doubled in size to facilitate its world-class support to airline operators in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
