Dépèche transmise le 10 juin 2010 par PRNewswire
LONDON, June 10, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's Europe-based air traffic management subsidiary, Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems, has been awarded contracts to provide air traffic control tower communications equipment and a surface movement guidance and control system at the Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi, the largest airport in northern Vietnam.
The recently built 80-meters high air traffic control tower is the first step in a comprehensive upgrade programme for the airport. The construction of the new terminal has already started and further extensions are expected in the near future.
"Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems has been at the forefront of designing and delivering the most innovative and reliable civilian and military air traffic management systems available," said Eldar Hauge, managing director for Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems in Norway. "This award builds on our well established presence in the South East Asia region"
The ATC tower will be fitted with a voice communication system consisting of Northrop Grumman's GAREX Voice Communication and Control System (VCCS), recording system and PAE T6 multi-mode air-ground radios all of which will be fully integrated to deliver enhanced communications at the airport.
The advanced surface movement guidance and control system (A-SMGCS) comprises the NOVA 9000 display processing system and a surface movement radar. The A-SMGCS will consist of 16 Controller Working Positions (CWP) placed in the tower and approach rooms, as well as a technical position with recording and test systems for engineering and training purposes. The company's NOVA 9000 will be integrated with existing control systems to deliver enhanced air traffic control capabilities and ensure air traffic controllers have a clear view of ground movements under normal and low visibility operations.
