WBT Innovation Marketplace Chooses 100 Investor Vetted Deals to Present at WBT2011
ARLINGTON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WBT Innovation Marketplace is pleased to announce 100 auspicious seed-stage companies and novel technologies have been chosen to present at WBT2011. Leveraging a national screening panel of active venture capitalists and corporate licensees, this year’s presenters were meticulously hand-picked from the hundreds of submissions in materials science, information technology, energy, life science and nanotechnology.
To be held March 22 and 23 at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel and the Arlington Convention Center, WBT2011 will showcase a compilation of prescreened, pre-prepped undiscovered companies and intellectual property emanating from top universities, labs and research institutions from across the country. Presenters, all of whom will seek investment capital and / or licensing partners, will represent their companies and technologies to seasoned venture investors and Fortune 1000 licensing scouts from a variety of industries each looking for early stage innovations.
This year's selected presenters over 25 states and 5 countries and are supported by Oak Ridge National Lab, Argonne National Lab, Boston University, Florida Institute of Technology, University of Guelph, North Carolina State University, NASA/Johnson Space Center, Case Western Reserve, Army Research Lab, University of Colorado, University of Southern Mississippi, McGill University, General Electric, Venrock, DOE, NIH, NSF, DARPA, US Navy, USDA, OCAST, Venture Capital and Angel funds - just to name a few.
Over the past eight years, more than 560 companies have participated in the WBT. One in three WBT presenters goes on to secure venture funding, license their technology, or sell their IP outright, representing over $490 million raised to date.
