Germany, France and Spain Get Travelzoo Local Deals™ for Valentine’s
LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Travelzoo (NASDAQ: TZOO), a global Internet media company, announced today that it is extending coverage of Local Deals™ in Europe, the service launched in Germany and Spain in the last two weeks, France will follow. Travelzoo® already has a combined audience of 4.6 million subscribers in Europe; 2.3 million subscribers live in these three markets and a further 2.3 million subscribers reside in the UK. Travelzoo Local Deals is a new service that alerts Travelzoo subscribers to deals from local businesses within their city.
Travelzoo published its first Local Deal in Barcelona, Spain on 25 January; Munich, Germany followed on 3 February, these were the first non-English speaking cities to receive the service. Paris is the next city scheduled to go live. These launches follow the successful roll-out of Travelzoo Local Deals in 30 US cities and in London and Manchester in the UK.
Since its London launch in mid-December, Travelzoo has published 18 Local Deals in Europe, from these Travelzoo subscribers have purchased 18,000 vouchers and saved 1.8 million Euros on local experiences.
Melanie Bower, vice president, Entertainment and Local Deals, Europe, said, “Travelzoo Local Deals is seeing rapid adoption among our 4.6 million subscribers in Europe. We are very pleased with both the number of vouchers sold and the anecdotal feedback from our subscribers shows they really like the quality of the businesses we are working with. We feel these deals are highly complementary to our existing travel and entertainment deals and are an excellent fit for our brand.”
Initial deals in Germany and Spain included a dinner for two at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Barcelona for €69, a 2-hour pampering experience at a luxury spa in Barcelona for €39 and a 3-course dinner for two at one of Munich’s top restaurants for €99.
Travelzoo applies the same rigorous deal selection and approval process to Local Deals for which it has become well known, and which has distinguished Travelzoo as the highest quality publisher of travel and entertainment deals.
