Tyco Electronics Provides Mobile Infrastructure for Dublin Airport
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tyco Electronics (TE) today announced that its InterReach Fusion® distributed antenna system (DAS) has been deployed to provide strong and consistent wireless services at Dublin Airport’s new Terminal 2. The stunning curvilinear building covers 75,000 square meters, includes 58 check-in desks and associated gates and passenger services, and can accommodate 80,000 passengers per day.
“We have worked with TE on many airport projects in the past and we always get a system that delivers high performance, no matter how large the facility or how many users it supports per day”
“The InterReach Fusion system provides uniformly high signal strength at every antenna point, and it is among the most cost-effective systems to deploy,” said Richard Donnelly, managing director at Inspired Networks, Inc., which provided network design consulting and deployment management services for the new terminal. The company served as the Technical Design Authority on behalf of SITA, a leading provider of global information and telecommunications solutions to the air transport industry. “We have worked with TE on many airport projects in the past and we always get a system that delivers high performance, no matter how large the facility or how many users it supports per day,” said Donnelly.
Physical deployment services were provided by Vilicom. The InterReach Fusion system provides mobile services for 3G, Meteor, O2, and Vodafone on the 800MHz, 1900MHz, and UMTS frequency bands. In addition, the TE infrastructure carries public safety radio traffic. The InterReach Fusion system deployed at Dublin Airport’s Terminal 2 includes 140 remote access units (RAUs). It provides wireless services throughout the facility and even aboard planes parked at the gates.
“As one of the newest and most technologically advanced airport terminals in Europe, Dublin Airport’s Terminal 2 is a showplace for the industry,” said Chris Jurasek, vice president of the Wireless and Services business unit of Tyco Electronics. “We are proud to have been selected as the provider of the in-building wireless system that will support this facility and its guests. Dublin Airport joins Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Heathrow Airport, Washington Dulles Airport, Soekarno Airport, and many other international facilities that rely on TE systems for seamless mobile communications.”
