Dépèche transmise le 1 février 2011 par Business Wire
KANSAS CITY, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ultra Electronics Airport Systems, (Ultra), a leading airport IT special systems integrator announced today the award of a subcontracting agreement for the design, deliver and support of the airport IT systems at John Wayne Airport (SNA) as part of their Airport Improvement Program. Ultra has teamed with Irvine, CA based general contractor Snyder Langston, the winning proposer, to deliver a world-class design build project that will help deliver new services and improved facilities.
“Winning the Design Build contract at John Wayne Airport is a significant milestone in the growth of Ultra Electronics Airport Systems in North America”
SNA’s Airport Improvement Program will create additional terminal capacity in the form of new aircraft gates, hold rooms, concessions, passenger/baggage screening capabilities, and more parking. It will also help redistribute traffic between Terminals A, B and C, thus achieving a balanced operation throughout the terminal complex. A key objective of the Airport Improvement Program is to ensure that the new facilities are designed and developed in a way that creates a single, seamless environment for passengers.
As part of the design build contract, Ultra will integrate UltraCUSE enterprise a virtualized common use infrastructure allowing for flexible provisioning of gates and check-in positions that can be shared between the airlines. The deployment of a virtualized solution will provide a variety of efficiencies and advantages including lower energy costs, improved maintenance and less dependency on traditional PC’s. Ultra is the only systems integrator in the world with fully deployed and fully functioning VMWare driven common use sites at Denver, Seattle, and Helsinki with additional sites slated for virtualized deployments in 2011.
Additionally, self-service shared kiosks will be deployed throughout terminals A, B and C providing passengers with state-of-the-art NCR supplied kiosks helping to further streamline passenger flow and self-service solutions. Ultra will install and deliver new flight information displays throughout the airport which will greatly add to passenger conveniences and equip the airport with potential revenue streams associated with advertising.
“Winning the Design Build contract at John Wayne Airport is a significant milestone in the growth of Ultra Electronics Airport Systems in North America,” said Dale Kirby, Vice President and General Manager of the Americas. “Our focus has been providing very strategic and CUPPS ready technologies to highly complex and large projects like John Wayne. Our customers have become very sophisticated in terms of demanding a class of services that require a highly organized effort and in this case we have partnered with a proven company in Snyder Langston who will oversee and manage the project from start to finish allowing Ultra to focus on delivering the core systems. We are excited to be part of this project and based on our experiences, John Wayne will be in a position to compete and provision world-class services for many years to come.”
"Clearly from the industry's perspective John Wayne Airport's plans for deploying Common Use Passenger Processing (CUPPS) standards throughout the airport and being the first airport to fully deploy CUPPS is very exciting," said Samuel Ingalls, Chairman of the IATA Common Use working Group (CUWG) Committee. "Installing a CUPPS solution ensures John Wayne Airport to be at the forefront of change."
