Dassault Systèmes Acquires Intercim

VÉLIZY-VILLACOUBLAY, France & ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Regulatory News:

“Leading aerospace customers like Embraer have chosen DELMIA and Intercim to plan and run their global manufacturing operations and this acquisition demonstrates our continued commitment to this industry.”

Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) (Paris:DSY), a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, and Intercim LLC, a market leader in manufacturing and production operations management software solutions for advanced and highly regulated industries, today announced that Dassault Systèmes has acquired Intercim for an enterprise value base of $36.5 million.

Product innovation requires production innovation. With the addition of Intercim, DELMIA’s virtual production platform now enables customers to demonstrate what they have built was exactly what they had planned to build, and use this conformity information for certification purposes. Doing so, Dassault Systèmes defines a new step for PLM, delivering digital continuity from engineering to the real factory operations.

Each unit produced is “built right” the first time, in full conformity with the engineering intent, and is certified to operate. This certification aspect of the DELMIA new offering makes it especially relevant for the aerospace and life sciences industries where safety is a major challenge in and beyond the manufacturing process.

John Todd, CEO, Intercim comments: “Engineers are now empowered with real-time visibility into manufacturing operations to ensure their designs are compliant with their organization’s layout and capabilities. Conversely, manufacturing personnel are provided with an opportunity to diagnose problems they encounter and present them to engineering”.

Globalization is a major industry trend. Global production systems require a properly balanced production network combining highly sophisticated manufacturing processes with lower manufacturing cost. DELMIA’s digital modeling, simulation and online execution of global production systems enables the virtual validation of new manufacturing concepts while running production systems at their peak performance.

The combining values of DELMIA and Intercim bring together the factory communities with the manufacturing and product engineers, for an immediate common understanding of the products being built with their potential non-conformance and deviations. This translates for customers into faster turn-around time to correct issues, improved product quality and higher production efficiency.

“We are pleased to see Dassault Systèmes taking this step to extend its PLM product offering to include Manufacturing Execution capability,” said Nancy Bailey, Vice President of Product Systems for Boeing. “As one of our large key suppliers, we anticipate greater company stability in support of the Velocity system used by the 787 program and look forward to additional innovations in this area.”

“This announcement supports Dassault Systèmes’ PLM strategy, by extending DELMIA’s footprint in Digital Manufacturing & Production to reach a large community of new users on the shop floor,” adds Philippe Charlès, CEO, DELMIA, Dassault Systèmes. “Leading aerospace customers like Embraer have chosen DELMIA and Intercim to plan and run their global manufacturing operations and this acquisition demonstrates our continued commitment to this industry.”

Dassault Systèmes’ investment in Intercim, a partner since 2004, follows a June 2008 Memorandum of Understanding to provide the aerospace and defense industry with Intercim's web-based manufacturing operations management solution integrated with Dassault Systèmes' V6 platform, a 2009 minority investment and a 2010 Master Reseller Agreement.
