Lone Star Overnight Celebrates 20th Anniversary
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In March 1991, Lone Star Overnight (LSO) opened its doors for business, servicing just a handful of metropolitan areas and transporting seven packages on its first day of operation. In the 20 years since that humble beginning, the Austin, Texas-based regional overnight package delivery company has grown exponentially to now deliver thousands of packages every business day to nearly 3,000 ZIP codes in Texas; Oklahoma; western Louisiana; eastern New Mexico; Texarkana, Ark.; and Mexico.
“Our 20th anniversary is the perfect opportunity to thank our loyal customers, employees and suppliers for helping us achieve this level of success”
“We believe one of the primary keys to our continued growth and success has been our ability to guarantee reliable, efficient overnight delivery service at a substantially lower price than our competitors,” said Lone Star Overnight’s CEO Rick Jones. “We’ve also always been committed to listening to what our customers want and need and then responding with the products and services that meet those requests.”
In the last three years alone, LSO has achieved many significant milestones:
- Attained full state coverage of Texas as part of an aggressive three-phase, 500-city territory expansion initiative to cover every address within the state.
- Implemented a multi-million-dollar information technology systems upgrade to improve up-to-the-minute package information, enhance delivery accuracy, reduce paperwork and increase fuel efficiency.
- Initiated a new Simple rating option that matches the leading national competitors’ published rates for the equivalent overnight services but with no additional fees or fuel surcharges added on – which is especially critical to customers during these times of high fuel costs.
- Introduced the Multi-PakSM rating option for multi-package shipments destined for the same address with lower eligible weight thresholds than the national competitors.
- Raised its package weight limit to 150 pounds from 70 pounds.
“Our 20th anniversary is the perfect opportunity to thank our loyal customers, employees and suppliers for helping us achieve this level of success,” added Jones. “Our entire team is both grateful for these past two decades and looking forward with great optimism to many more decades to come.”
