Rapiscan 620DV Checkpoint Baggage Scanner Achieves European “Type C” Certification for Detection of Liquid Explosives

TORRANCE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rapiscan Systems, a leading supplier of security inspection systems, today announced that its 620DV multi-view advanced baggage scanner has passed the “Type C” standard set by the European Commission for Civil Aviation (ECAC) for detection of liquid explosive threats, as well as other potential threats. As a result, airports, aviation regulators and other customers can purchase the Rapiscan 620DV with the assurance that the system fully meets the latest EU regulations for liquid threat detection. Furthermore, deploying the 620DV will allow European airports to meet the upcoming EU deadline to relax current restrictions on the ability of passengers to carry-on liquids onto airplanes.

The Rapiscan 620DV has also been approved for use by the US Transportation Security Administration for both aviation checkpoint screening and air cargo screening. It can also be used for critical non-aviation applications such as air cargo screening, military checkpoints, customs inspection and protection of national infrastructure. Specifically, the 620DV:
