Sabritec Displays Active Electroptical Cable Assembly Transceiver at Key Industry Gathering in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sabritec, a Smiths Interconnect company, and leading manufacturer and supplier of high-performance precision interconnect solutions for the military, aerospace, commercial aviation and industrial market segments is highlighting new directions in interconnect technology during the OFC/NFOEC exposition that will yield significant benefits to customers.
“Sabritec is a leading provider of high-performance interconnect products and we focus on providing our customers with state-of-the-art connectivity solutions of the highest quality and reliability”
The company is displaying its Electroptical Cable Assembly, a new and innovative copper-to-fiber optic transceiver, to attendees of OFC/NFOEC 2011 (Optical Fiber Communication Conference and National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference) opening on March 8th. This gathering, being held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, is the world’s largest global conference and exhibition for optical communications and networking professionals.
Traditionally, copper has been the signal transmission vehicle of choice among design engineers in both the military and commercial aviation operating environments. However, the weight, size and bandwidth limitations of copper present challenges for the design engineers of today.
In response to changing demands and requirements from across industry disciplines, Sabritec engineers have recently developed this cutting-edge fiber optic solution, as a replacement for copper. Two key features and benefits to customers associated with the Sabritec transceiver solution include significant weight reduction, as copper is much heavier than fiber optics, while minimizing EMI/RFI issues. Both of these areas are of paramount importance to design engineers in the aviation and space industries in terms of achieving a higher degree of fuel efficiency, and greater signal reliability.
“Sabritec is a leading provider of high-performance interconnect products and we focus on providing our customers with state-of-the-art connectivity solutions of the highest quality and reliability,” said Scott Pianalto, President of Sabritec. “Our new Active Electroptical Cable Assembly is a light weight transceiver that incorporates the most innovative fiber optic technology advancements that deliver the high bandwith, long signal propagation and immunity to electronic noise and electromagnectic pulse that is demanded by the design engineering community.”
Sabritec’s OFC/NFOEC Booth Number is 2630.
