Alta Data Technologies Releases MIL-STD-1553 Ethernet Appliance
RIO RANCHO, N.M.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Alta Data Technologies (Alta) announces the release of an innovative new network appliance that provides real-time MIL-STD-1553 <-> Ethernet connectivity: eNet-1553. For the first time in the avionics industry, Alta has implemented an FPGA “thin-server” UDP technology to provide direct packet access to 1553 BC, mRT and BM setup memory and automatic bus monitor bridging. Alta’s advanced, modular software package, AltaAPI™, provides complete portability between applications written for PCI/PCI Express based products and eNet-1553 – the ultimate in code reuse and system design flexibility.
Besides providing dual or full function 1553A/1553B interface capabilities, 1553 signals can be generated and captured remotely for protocol and electrical troubleshooting using Alta’s unique signal capture and generator standard features.
“Our new eNet-1553 product represents true innovation and flexibility for customer’s 1553 designs. Almost every avionics or communication system implements Ethernet LANs, and now it is easy to add 1553 connectivity to their networks. The appliance is about the size of a 4-stub 1553 coupler and runs off low power 5-30V (e.g. USB power). eNet-1553 is a small, low-cost, rugged design and is ideal for lab or vehicle systems,” states Harry Wild, Vice President of Sales for Alta.
Jake Haddock, Alta CTO, adds “We took our advanced AltaCore™ protocol engine and designed a real-time, thin-sever UDP front-end, and then added an auto-bridging mode for sniffing 1553 networks. The customer has the option to control eNet-1553 like a traditional interface card and have 1553 packets auto transmitted on the LAN so that any computer can monitor 1553 data. eNet-1553 can fast auto-boot BC and RT images for simple UDP socket access making it virtually OS/machine independent.”
