CryoPort Named to OC METRO’s 2011 Green Team
Dépèche transmise le 20 avril 2011 par Business Wire
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CryoPort, Inc. (OTCBB: CYRX) today announced that it has been named to OC METRO’S “2011 Green Team,” in recognition of the Company’s contribution to environmentally friendly business practices.
“We are certainly pleased to be recognized by the editors at OC METRO. When implemented correctly, green technologies can make both ecological and economic sense”
“We are certainly pleased to be recognized by the editors at OC METRO. When implemented correctly, green technologies can make both ecological and economic sense,” said Larry Stambaugh, CryoPort’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “At CryoPort we are making an important qualitative improvement in patient outcomes for the life science industry. By focusing on a model that is environmentally friendly, we are making shipping of biologic materials both safer and more cost effective for our customers.”
OC METRO Publisher and Churm Media CEO Steve Churm commented, "Four years ago, when we published our first 'Green Team' issue, our objective was simple: Recognize companies that are changing the way we think and act about being green, whether they are innovating new products and energy sources or simply adjusting their business models to operate more efficiently or environmentally friendly."
CryoPort, Inc. has created a game-changing "green" business model for the global life science cold chain transportation industry. Until now, shipping frozen biological products has required the use of dry ice and insulated cartons to keep the contents frozen during transport. This traditional method of shipping is environmentally unfriendly because dry ice sublimates to form carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, and much of the packaging uses insulators and fillers, like Styrofoam, that do not recycle and accumulate in landfills. CryoPort has developed a reusable dry vapor container that can transport important life products all over the world with little environmental impact. The container uses dry vapor liquid nitrogen as the cooling source and emits no harmful gases. Also, the Shippers are classified as non-hazardous by the International Air Transport Association. For each shipment, only a single recyclable cardboard box is discarded by the customer. All remaining packaging is returned to CryoPort where the majority of materials are either reused or recycled. Each dry shipper can be used multiple times before being dismantled for recycling or waste. CryoPort customers can reduce waste and costs while adding value to their environmental sustainability initiatives.
