PPG Aerospace Chromate-Free Primer First to Be Qualified by Boeing
SYLMAR, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PPG Industries’ (NYSE:PPG) aerospace business has qualified a chromate-free exterior decorative primer with Boeing, enabling airlines, subcontractors and third-party painters to specify a complete “green” PPG Aerospace coatings system for new or repainted Boeing aircraft. DESOPRIME(TM) CF/CA 7502 epoxy primer is the only chromate-free primer on Boeing’s qualified product list for its BMS 10-72 (Revision Y) Exterior Decorative Paint specification.
“Having Boeing qualification is an important component in product commercialization. Customers specifying Desoprime CF/CA 7502 primer are assured that it meets all of Boeing’s relevant performance requirements.”
“Desoprime CF/CA 7502 primer is a technology breakthrough that achieves exceptional corrosion resistance because of a proprietary PPG corrosion-inhibition package,” said Kevin Brooks, PPG Aerospace global segment manager for original-equipment coatings. “Paint shops can also reduce environmental issues and waste removal costs when using this primer.”
PPG Aerospace now offers a complete green exterior coatings system qualified to BMS 10-72 that includes DESOTHANE(R) HS topcoat and DESOGEL(TM) EAP-9 metal pretreatment.
“PPG Aerospace is committed to bringing green products to market that meet the rigors of the aerospace environment and achieve attractive aesthetics,” Brooks said. “Having Boeing qualification is an important component in product commercialization. Customers specifying Desoprime CF/CA 7502 primer are assured that it meets all of Boeing’s relevant performance requirements.”
