Q8Aviation Starts Operations at Charleroi Airport in Belgium
Dépèche transmise le 7 avril 2011 par PRNewswire
WOKING, England, April 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Q8Aviation has added Brussels South Charleroi Airport in Belgium to its network of regional airports and has won its first contract, with the airport's leading operator, Ryanair. From 1st April, Q8Aviation will supply 20 per cent of Ryanair's fuel requirements, equating to 20 million litres of aviation fuel per annum.
Toby Simmons, Sales & Marketing Manager at Q8Aviation's headquarters in the UK, comments: "We secured approval to start operations at Charleroi Airport in February and are delighted to win this important contract within such a short timescale. Our entry into Charleroi strengthens our presence in Belgium, where we already serve Brussels and Liege airports, and is part of our strategy to maximise the use of our import facilities at Rotterdam, which have helped to make Q8Aviation the largest jet fuel importer into North West Europe."
Located around 46 kilometres south of Brussels, Charleroi Airport is used predominantly by low cost airlines, with the majority of services operated by Ryanair. The airport has expanded rapidly since the opening of a new terminal in 2008 and in 2010 was used by over 5 million passengers, a 32 per cent increase on the previous year.
Q8Aviation benefits from a secure 'well head to wing tip' source of fuel into Europe, importing Kuwaiti jet fuel through its state of the art import facilities and onwards via pipeline.
With the opening of a Q8 service station and forecourt shop at Charleroi Airport, Q8 can claim to meet a wide range of passenger needs, from petrol for their cars and snacks, through to jet fuel for their flight!
Charleroi is the latest in a growing list of airports added to Q8Aviation's network over the past year, including Leeds Bradford, Cologne-Bonn, Frankfurt-Hahn, Liege and, most recently, Vienna.
