DDC-I’s Deos RTOS Selected for Goodrich SmartDisplay® Electronic Flight Bag
PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DDC-I, a leading supplier of software and professional services for mission- and safety-critical applications, today announced that its Deos™ real-time operating system (RTOS) has been selected by Goodrich’s Sensors and Integrated Systems business for use in its SmartDisplay® Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) systems. Deos will serve as the avionics RTOS for the Goodrich SmartDisplay EFB and ARINC 828 Aircraft Interface Device targeted for NextGen ATS EFB applications. The DO-178B certified Deos will permit running Type C applications on the Class 3 hardware platform, which is considered installed equipment on the aircraft and subject to airworthiness requirements. This will enable the SmartDisplay EFB to run Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast In (ADS-B In) and advanced communications applications, and to realize the full benefits of the Eurocontrol SESAR/FAA NextGen Air Transportation Systems.
“We are extremely pleased that Goodrich has selected Deos as the certifiable RTOS for its SmartDisplay EFB, ADS-B applications and its FAA NextGen initiatives to enhance safety, increase access and efficiency, and improve aviation’s overall environmental footprint”
“We are extremely pleased that Goodrich has selected Deos as the certifiable RTOS for its SmartDisplay EFB, ADS-B applications and its FAA NextGen initiatives to enhance safety, increase access and efficiency, and improve aviation’s overall environmental footprint,” said Bob Morris, president and CEO of DDC-I. “We look forward to continuing our successful relationship with Goodrich in its best-in-class next generation SmartDisplay EFB systems and solutions.”
The Goodrich SmartDisplay Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) serves as the cornerstone for the company’s advanced cockpit data management systems. The systems provide turn-key EFB paperless solutions with fully integrated hardware, software and support services. This allows flight crews, maintenance and flight operations groups to perform critical ground and in-flight management operations. Additionally, the SmartDisplay EFB provides an affordable upgrade path for implementing ADS-B In capabilities which allow airlines to maximize benefits provided by the NextGen Air Transportation System.
Deos is a high performance DO-178B Level A certifiable RTOS that has been used in hundreds of safety-critical avionics applications in dozens of commercial aircraft type certifications and military aircraft types since its initial certification in 1998. The time- and space-partitioned RTOS features deterministic real-time response and employs patented "slack scheduling" to deliver higher CPU utilization than any other certifiable safety-critical COTS RTOS. Deos is the only certifiable time- and space-partitioned COTS RTOS that has been created using RTCA DO-178B, Level A processes from the very first day of its product development. It also provides the easiest, lowest cost path of any COTS RTOS to DO-178B Level A certification, the highest level of safety criticality.
