ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA)—the voice of the global business travel industry—today announced Tim Burke, director of Travel and Transportation Services, General Services Administration (GSA) will be the opening speaker at the GBTA GovTravDC 2011 event on June 1, 2011. This new event will be held at the George Washington University Cafritz Center. It is designed for both government and business travel professionals who are committed to smarter travel management.
Burke provides leadership to over 100 federal associates by developing business and program goals, innovative solutions, prioritizing resources, evaluating business and program performance, and recommending and implementing necessary improvements to meet the objectives of fifteen government-wide programs in travel, transportation and transportation audits. During his illustrious career he has achieved great success and has been the recipient of numerous awards. He is also the Executive Program Manager for E-Gov Travel.
Said Michael W. McCormick, GBTA Executive Director and COO, “It’s an honor to welcome Tim and several of his colleagues to the GovTravDC stage to impart their expertise on the industry and specific trends related to this niche in travel management – Tim’s contribution to the event will be fulfilling in many ways and above all else will let our members hear directly from someone who has been incredibly successful and impactful in the space. Together and through events like these, we can advance their careers, government travel management, and the industry as a whole.”
Lois Mandell, director of Travel Policy, GSA, along with Leilani Latimer, director, Sustainability Initiatives, Sabre Holdings, will speak on the hot topic of travel sustainability. An afternoon session, covering specific travel programs from government and corporate perspectives, will feature GSA’s Ergene Lee, director of City Pair Program and Jerry Bristow, FAS (Federal Acquisition Services) Program manager.
